Miami has signed DB Jason Allen, the Dolphins' first-round pick at the 2006 draft and one of just two remaining unsigned first rounders. Allen, the 16th player selected this year, signed a six-year contract that reportedly includes up to $9 million in guaranteed money. Allen had held out for 10 days but was on the field with the team for this morning's scheduled workout. With Allen signed, the only unsigned first-round pick is Arizona QB Matt Leinart.....

Pittsburgh has released former Ohio State DE Mike Kudla, one of the top rated undrafted free agents in the 2006 draft class. Kudla, who excelled at the lifting phase of the combine last February, has not been able to practice of late because of a hamstring problem.....

Cleveland has acquired C Ross Tucker from New England for a conditional 2007 draft pick. The Browns are suddenly thin at the position after Bob Hallen was placed on the exempt-left squad list; Hallen, who was replacing LeCharles Bently who was lost for the season with a knee injury on the first day of training camp, left camp reportedly to get a second opinion on a balky back problem.....

Its day eight in the holdout of Arizona rookie QB Matt Leinart, the tenth player taken at the 2006 draft and the last unsigned first rounder. And there is reportedly still significant ground to cover before a deal is reached, although there are also reports that the two sides are creeping closer to an agreement. The sticking point is reportedly the guaranteed money in contract. There were published reports over the weekend that the Cardinals were offering Leinart less in guaranteed money than Denver signed QB Jay Cutler, selected one pick after Leinart.....

Before coming to New York for the start of training camp, Curtis Martin was so concerned about his lingering knee injury that he spoke with people close to him about the possibility of retiring, according to two people close to the Jets' running back.....


Disputing a rumor that originated from a local radio station, coach Brian Billick said offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden has not told the team that he is contemplating retirement.....


Michael Haynes missed Tuesday's night practice, fueling speculation he could be traded to Denver along with a fourth-round pick for receiver Ashley Lelie.....

Though Tennessee running back Chris Brown -- who has requested a trade -- has interest in Miami, Titans GM Floyd Reese said Tuesday the Dolphins haven't inquired about him and Tennessee doesn't intend to trade him.....
