134 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

According to sources, Dallas will receive a 7th round pick at the 2007 draft from New Orleans as compensation for LB Scott Shanle whom the Cowboys sent to the Saints earlier this week.....

Chicago has acquired an undisclosed conditional pick at the 2007 draft from Cleveland in exchange for veteran C Lenny Friedman.....


Scouts from 16 NFL teams - the Dallas Cowboys sent two - were on hand to evaluate players from both teams. Several scouts watched the Dolphins wide receivers, along with DT Jeff Zgonina.....

Saban continually has said he is 'not displeased' with Miami's depth at running back behind Ronnie Brown, but it is clear the Dolphins intend to pursue players who might be cut by other teams when the first round of cuts are made Tuesday.....


Five tailbacks - first-stringer Mike Bell and Tatum Bell, Ron Dayne, Cedric Cobbs and Damien Nash - may have done enough to make the team. But with Cecil Sapp and Kyle Johnson likely filling fullback roles, one or two tailbacks will have to go.....


CFB NEWS AND NOTES

Wisconsin receiver Marcus Randle El will miss the 2006 season after injuring his right knee. Randle El hurt his knee at practice Wednesday afternoon. An MRI exam Thursday showed he had damage to ligaments that would require surgery. No further details were provided.....



The newest college football all-star game will be played in El Paso. Bowl organizers announced Thursday the Texas vs. The Nation game, which will feature a team of top-rated seniors who played college or high school football in Texas against a squad of top-rated seniors from the rest of the country. The game will be played in either January or early February, the game's CEO Kenny Hansmire said. Hansmire said seniors rated in the top 15 at their position by the NFL will be eligible for the game. Texas-El Paso coach Mike Price will lead the Texas team. The coach of the other team has not been named.
