Chicago will reportedly get a conditional 7th round pick in 2007 from Cleveland in exchange for veteran C Lenny Friedman whom the Bears sent to the Browns earlier this week. The compensation si conditional upon Friedman making the Browns' 53-man opening day roster. Friedman may even start for the Browns who have been riddled with injuries at the position this summer....
With receiver Koren Robinson possibly facing a yearlong suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy, the Vikings could be among the teams that inquire about disgruntled New England receiver Deion Branch.....
Steelers running back Duce Staley returned to Lincoln Financial Field amid rumors he could be on his way back to the Eagles, as the team still is in search of a power running back to complement Brian Westbrook. However, the Steelers are not exactly deep at the position themselves behind starter Willie Parker since the retirement of Jerome Bettis, and Staley is not nearly as quick as he was with the Eagles.....
Henson, the former University of Michigan quarterback, is expected to be released by the Dallas Cowboys, but the Detroit Lions don't have any interest in signing him at this point. Several teams, including the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns, are expected to pursue him if he clears waivers.....
