QB Chris Simms

Tampa Bay has placed QB Chris Simms on the injured reserve list. Simms had his spleen removed after being injured in the Buccaneers' loss to Carolina in late September. To fill Simms' roster spot, the Buccaneers activated QB Luke McCown from the physically unable to perform list where he was rehabbing from a torn ACL suffered earlier this summer. McCown, though, is not expected to challenge rookie Bruce Gradkowski as the Buccaneers’ starter.....

A number of rookies have shown up on the NFL wire in the past couple of days. Cleveland, for example, has signed OG Fred Matua who was originally a 7th round pick by Detroit this past April, but was released prior to the season. Meanwhile, Green Bay has signed undrafted rookie free agent RB P.J. Pope off the Chicago practice. At the same time, the Giants have released undrafted rookie free agent OT Na’Shon Goddard in order to make room on the roster for veteran LB Chris Claiborne whom New York signed this past week, while Minnesota released undrafted rookie free agent WR Jason Carter......

Titans coach Jeff Fisher's name has been thrown around as a possible replacement to Joe Gibbs in Washington or Bill Parcells in Dallas if either quits after the season. But the Titans hold an option on Fisher for 2007.....

After proactively signing left tackle Bryant McKinnie to a long-term contract in September, the Vikings have been relatively hands-off with several other 2007 free agents, notably linebackers E.J. Henderson and Napoleon Harris. But if the Vikings want to make a move, they should act quickly.
