15 DAYS TILL KICKOFF

According to published reports, the exact compensation Denver will receive as their part of yesterday’s deal in which the Broncos sent WR Ashley Lelie to Atlanta and the Falcons dispatched RB T.J. Duckett to Washington will not be determined until after the season. According to the Denver Post, for example, depending on how the Broncos and Redskins finish in the final standings, there are four possibilities based on the draft-value chart NFL teams use. The two teams could exchange first-round picks outright if Denver has a significantly lower pick than the Redskins; the teams could flip-flop their first-rounders and the Broncos get a fourth-rounder in 2008; the teams flip-flop their first-rounders and the Broncos get a third- rounder next year; or the Broncos get a third-rounder in 2007 and a fourth-rounder in 2008. The trade, however, still has to be approved by the NFL and both Lelie and Duckett also must pass physicals with their respective new teams.....

Holdout wide receiver Deion Branch broke his silence in an interview with Ch. 4’s Steve Burton last night, saying he’s 'pretty sure everything will work out' between himself and the Patriots.....

Curtis Martin, according to a report, agreed to a pay cut recently... There are many things that can be read into this move, the first being that the Jets are taking care of their warrior workhorse knowing he likely won't play again for them.....

J. Duckett of the Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans starter Chris Brown are the biggest names thought to be on trading block, although league sources said the Dolphins are not in discussions for either... Artose Pinner (Detroit Lions) and Cedric Cobbs (Denver Broncos) are among the other backs on the market.....

Owner Al Davis has said he would give Porter his wish and trade him if the offer was right, but so far nothing has transpired.....
