Minnesota has thrown a wrench at defending NFC champion Seattle by signing the Seahawks’ Pro Bowl OG Steve Hutchinson, who was designated a transition player by Seattle, to an offer sheet for a whopping $49 million over seven years. The deal also includes $16 million in guaranteed money, huge money for an OG, and a very high cap number in the first year. If the Seahawks do decide to match the deal, which would give them the most expensive side to an offensive line in league history where Hutchinson teams with Walter Jones to make up the best blocking side in football as well. If the Seahawks aren’t able to match they would not receive any compensation.

Arizona made one of the big slpashes of the early free agent signing period, inking star Indianapolis RB Edgerrin James. That almost certainly will change the Cardinals draft strategy at the 2006 draft; the Cardinals, who have the tenth pick overall, had been thought to be looking at RBs like DeAngelo Williams of Memphis or LenDale white of Southern Cal, but may now look elsewhere at tht spot come April 29th.
