NFL NEWS AND NOTES

NFL Network reports that free-agent RB Corey Dillon is planning to retire, according to those close to him. Dillon has been courted by the Titans and Bills, but neither team has been appealing to the 10-year veteran. Dillon has already hinted at retirement once this offseason, speaking about it in January when he asked for his release from the Patriots.....

The Kansas City Star reports that the Chiefs have requested to meet with and have brought in several running back draft prospects, including Marshawn Lynch, Antonio Pittman and Lorenzo Booker, and have told them that they are planning on drafting a running back on the first day of the 2007 NFL Draft. "They've put that out there," agent Jerrold Colton, who represents Kolby Smith, said. "They said they want the running-back duties shared a little more to save the wear and tear on (Johnson).".....

Ricky Williams, who has applied for reinstatement in the NFL after a one-year suspension for substance abuse, could find a home with the Rams. Coach Scott Linehan, the offensive coordinator when Williams played for the Miami Dolphins in 2005, said Thursday he'd consider adding Williams to the roster as a backup. The Rams need depth behind Steven Jackson. Williams, who will turn 30 in May, played in Canada last year and is eligible for reinstatement after April 27. Earlier this month Williams' agent, Leigh Steinberg, sent a letter asking that he be allowed to return to the Dolphins. If that request was granted, the Rams would have to work out a trade with Miami. "He's proven himself with me," Linehan said. "I know there would be a certain amount of risk involved based on that, but I would just because he deserves that based on what he was able to do.".....

The New York Post reports that despite rumors of Jonathan Vilma getting traded, Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum plans on having Vilma on the team for the long haul. "Jon is on the team. I'm glad he's here," Tannenbaum said. "I'm not going to comment on any specific rumor or anything, but I'm happy he's here. I know that those rumors have been out there. We expect him to be here. He's a good player."....

The North County Times reports that Bills GM Marv Levy told reporters Wednesday that his club was out of the running for Chargers RB Michael Turner, a restricted free agent with the highest possible tender offer. "There are so many complexities to the deal that if it's done, I've got to tell you it'd be a surprise," Levy said. Turner had a more extensive visit with the Titans earlier this offseason, but Turner's agent said this week that no trade was imminent.....

Bengals.com reports that the team has agreed to terms on a contract with DT Michael Myers, formerly of the Denver Broncos. He is expected to take Shaun Smith's place in the Bengals' defensive line rotation.
