NFL NEWS AND NOTES
NFL Network reports that free-agent PK Billy Cundiff is being chased by the Giants and Falcons, two teams that have yet to hire a legitimate starting kicker. The Giants have already worked out Cundiff, and the Falcons are bringing him in for a workout of their own.....
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel cites an NFL source close to Keyshawn Johnson as saying the Packers are taking a look at signing the veteran wideout. "I think their interest is legitimate," the source said. The Giants have also been named as a potential suitor for Johnson, who was released by the Panthers following the NFL draft.....
Free agent Josh Scobey signed with the Bills on Thursday, providing Buffalo depth at running back and special teams. Scobey is a five-year NFL veteran who appeared in 12 games last season with Seattle before breaking his arm against Denver on Dec. 3. He played mostly on special teams, returning 17 kickoffs for 315 yards and adding 12 special teams tackles. Scobey played two seasons with Seattle after spending his first three with Arizona, which selected him in the sixth round of the 2002 draft. He has had limited action at running back, getting 27 carries for 89 yards rushing, all in 2004 with the Cardinals. The Bills value Scobey's special teams ability. He will also compete for a backup running back spot in Buffalo behind first-round draft pick Marshawn Lynch, who was selected 12th overall in Saturday's draft, and veteran backup Anthony Thomas.....
The Steelers have announced the release of backup TE Tim Euhus, who became expendable when the club drafted Matt Spaeth in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Spaeth is a monster (6-foot-7, 267 pounds) who set receiving records at Minnesota and is more of a receiver than a blocker.
