A trio of rookies showed up on the NFL transaction wire over the past day or so. Kansas City, for example, a 5th round pick at the 2006 draft off waivers from Chicago. Ironically, Maxie was originally chosen by the Chiefs, but was released in late September and claimed by Chicago where he appeared in one contest. Meanwhile, Minnesota has signed undrafted rookie free agent CB Charles Gordon off their practice squad. And San Francisco has placed DE Parys Haralson, a 5th round pick this year, on injured reserve after undergoing surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle.....
Florida Times-Union: "Byron Leftwich, who lost his starting quarterback job to David Garrard earlier this week, said Wednesday he believes he can play on his sore ankle, but he doesn't want to create a distraction for the Jaguars... Leftwich also said he would like to stay in Jacksonville, but he hasn't had any contract talks with the Jaguars."
First Mike Patterson got a new contract. Then Trent Cole got a new contract. Then the deadline for NFL teams to count signing bonuses under this year's salary cap expired, and still L.J. Smith didn't have a new contract....
