Packers rookie RB Brandon Jackson was back in Green Bay this week for the team's voluntary workouts, and got a few repetitions with the No. 1 offense in practice on Thursday. Granted, it was one practice without pads in May, but Jackson showed some of the ability that convinced the Packers to take the Nebraska running back in the second round last month. He showed some speed and bounced off a few tackles. Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he showed a good basic understanding of the offense. "I think he looked like a normal rookie," McCarthy said. "I think he's feeling his way on some things, but he understands what he's doing. He's picked it up very clean."....
The Chiefs signed seventh-round pick Michael Allan to terms on Friday. He is expected to compete for a roster spot along the TE depth chart.....
The Tennessean reports that Titans RB LenDale White missed the start of the team's late May minicamp because he couldn't catch a flight out of Denver while visiting with his ill grandmother. Titans coach Jeff Fisher was upset he wasn't there. Moreover, White has a lingering hamstring strain that will keep him from practicing with the team despite being in camp. White was also overweight at 260 pounds for the club's first offseason minicamp. "He'll get on the field eventually. I just hope it's not going to be too late," Fisher said earlier in the week.....
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Steelers RB Najeh Davenport is doing well in minicamp, especially considering that last season he was learning the offense on the fly. Davenport is competing for the No. 2 RB job behind Willie Parker, but may end up getting a role that sees him spelling Parker more often than he did last season. "He's learning the nuances of the offense," offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said. "He looks explosive."....
The Kansas City Star reports ... well, that nothing has changed in the chess game between the Chiefs and Dolphins involving Trent Green. The two sides still cannot agree to compensation. When asked about him being named the starter in Kansas City if he were best candidate, he said "I'd like to think that's the truth. For a certain amount of time that would be the case. But I do know that at some point in time Brodie (Croyle) is going to play. They want him to get reps. They've made that very clear."
